Comprehensive Industrial Cybersecurity with the EDR G9004 Series Secure Routers

Overview

The EDR G9004 Series consists of advanced industrial routers designed for secure multi-port networking. These devices integrate firewall, NAT, and VPN capabilities, making them ideal for safeguarding Ethernet-based systems used in remote monitoring and control applications. They help form a digital barrier that defends essential digital infrastructure such as substations in the power sector, water treatment control systems, oil and gas process networks, and industrial automation platforms using PLC or SCADA. The inclusion of IDS and IPS turns the EDR G9004 into a next-level industrial firewall capable of recognizing and countering cybersecurity threats.

Enhanced Protection from Cyber Risks

Built with a robust firewall engine, the EDR G9004 manages traffic flow between defined trust zones using rule-based controls. NAT functionality ensures the internal network remains hidden from external users. Secure connectivity over the public internet is made possible through VPN channels. For deeper defense, DPI technology is integrated to scrutinize the payloads of data packets for OT protocol vulnerabilities.

Streamlined Setup and Configuration

With an intuitive Setup Wizard, users can configure DMZ ports within a few steps to form a secure buffer zone in the network. The series also includes object-based firewall tools that allow users to easily manage access controls for IP ranges, protocols, services for industrial applications, and customized configurations.

Engineered for Harsh Industrial Conditions

The durable construction of the EDR G9004 Series is suitable for tough environments. Select models are built to function reliably across wide temperature ranges from minus forty to seventy five degrees Celsius. These routers also support WAN connectivity, Layer 3 redundancy, and a Gen3 LAN Bypass system, ensuring stable and continuous network availability.

Proactive Security Without Interruptions

Applying security patches in OT systems can be difficult due to the need for uninterrupted service. Virtual patching in the EDR G9004 helps bridge this gap by mitigating threats without halting operations. It works alongside the system’s intelligent intrusion prevention, which uses known threat patterns to recognize and block attacks before they can cause harm.

MX ROS Platform for Industrial Security

Moxa’s MX ROS is the foundation for managing the EDR G9004 Series and other industrial security routers. This software platform simplifies administration with web and command line interfaces. It supports the implementation of IEC 62443 4 2 standards and provides consistent updates that include modern OT security and network management tools, offering both ease of use and strong protection for critical infrastructure.
