Eliminate Extra Sensors with a Battery-Free Absolute System
A newly developed compact, low cost, battery-free and patented absolute mechanical sensor that contributes to productivity improvements and cost reduction. AZ Series line-up provides absolute positioning without the need for a battery. These stepper motors offer high efficiency, low vibration and incorporate the newly developed Mechanical Absolute Encoder for absolute-type positioning without battery back-up or external sensors to buy. Because a battery is not needed, costs are reduced. Available with a built-in controller or pulse input driver which substantially reduces heat generation from the motor through the use of high-efficiency technology.
AZ Series Stepper Motors with Mechanical Absolute Encoder
The AlphaStep AZ Series stepper motors offer high efficiency, low vibration and incorporates our newly developed Mechanical Absolute Encoder for absolute-type positioning without battery back-up or external sensors to buy. Closed loop performance without hunting or gain tuning. Available with a built-in controller or pulse input driver which substantially reduces heat generation from the motor through the use of high-efficiency technology. Multi-Axis Drivers
A multi-axis driver that supports EtherCAT communication. Compatible with the CiA402 drive profile. It can be connected to the AZ Series DC input motors and electric actuators. 2-axes, 3-axes and 4-axes driver connections are available. Multi-Axis Drivers can connect AZ Series DC input motors and the linear and rotary actuators equipped with them. Available for all products compatible with the SSCNET /H, MECHATROLINK- and EtherCAT drive profiles. Multi-Axis Drivers connect directly to the host network and can control up to 4 axes simultaneously. Multi-Axis Drivers (2-Axis Type, 4-Axis Type) are compact and save space by aligning Single-Axis Drivers. Multi-Axis Drivers can reduce installation space by aligning network-compatible Single-Axis
Drivers.
AZ Series – AC Input Drivers
The AlphaStep AZD (AC Input) Drivers offers superior high speed performance, high functionality and closed loop control. There are no external sensors to buy as the motor and driver complete the system. Advanced operation and function control is included through our MEXE02 software (free download). The AlphaStep AZD (AC Input) Drivers can perform quick positioning operations over a short distance without the need for tuning, while providing smooth performance.

Linear Actuators & slides
Motors offer excellent controllability and are therefore used as the drive sources of various automated equipment. In many cases a stepper motor is combined with various mechanical components such as a ball screw, belt and pulley, and rack and pinion to convert the motor rotation to a different type of motion needed to drive the equipment such as a linear actuator. Oriental Motor has various linear actuators consisting of a stepper motor assembled with the necessary mechanical components to meet the various needs of automated equipment.
Equipped with a motor offering excellent control, our linear actuators offer the following advantages over hydraulic and pneumatic actuators:
- The actuator is very stable when operated, even at low speeds. It also offers smooth acceleration and deceleration operation.
- Motions can be programmed with multiple stopping points.
- With a linear actuator using a stepper motor, adjustment of position and speed can be performed easily using data. Setup change is also simple, as you need to do is change the data.
