Moog Animatics offers three gearhead series:

• High Performance (P)
• OEM Series (SP)
• Right Angle (RAP).

Each gearhead is supplied with the necessary mounting hardware, fasteners, an Allen key, and a pinion gap gauge.All units feature precision-ground, planetary gearsets designed for sustained servo input speeds. They can be purchased alone or pre-mounted on the SmartMotor™.

In-line gearheads have torque limits determined by input pinion diameters. The 7:1 single-stage and 28:1 two-stage gearheads generally provide higher torque ratings, whereas the 10:1 and 100:1 pinions are quite small, necessitating caution not to exceed their torque ratings. Right angle gearhead torque levels are restricted by their beveled gear sets, resulting in uniform torque limits across that series.

All gearheads max out at 5000 RPM for input pinion speed, a limit set by differential speed and lubrication flow across the bearings. Surpassing this speed for extended periods can significantly reduce gearhead life and is not covered by warranty. However, reaching 5000 RPM during typical machine cycles poses no issue.
